Aaron Barnett

Operations & Systems Consultant

Process · Systems · Inventory · Reporting · Documentation

Something does not add up, and nobody has time to find out why.

I help businesses improve the way work, information, inventory, and reporting move through their operations.

Start here One hour, no charge. A written assessment in three business days.

The problem

It usually looks like one of these.

  • Inventory does not reconcile, and the gap keeps moving.
  • The system does not match how the work is actually done.
  • Reporting takes days, and nobody is sure which number is right.
  • The same information lives in three places and one person's head.
  • A migration is coming and nobody wants to be the one who breaks it.

What I do

I work with the systems a business already has, find where the process and the records stop matching, and build practical ways to make the operation easier to run and understand.

Operations improvement
Map how work actually moves through a business, find gaps and bottlenecks, and improve the process.
Inventory & reconciliation
Compare system records, physical inventory, orders, and supporting records to find discrepancies and correct the underlying process.
Systems & data cleanup
Clean up existing systems, move records between systems, and structure information so it can be used reliably.
SOPs & procedures
Turn informal practices and tribal knowledge into clear, usable SOPs, work instructions, and repeatable procedures.
Reporting & analysis
Build Excel, SQL, Python, and Power BI workflows and reporting around the data a business already has.

Proof

Three things I have already done.

60federal filings

Five years owning monthly federal excise reporting, TTB Form 5120.17. None late and none penalized.

900–1,500gallons

Found a month of inventory losses recorded against the wrong period. The month balanced on its own, so nothing looked wrong until two periods were set side by side and closing did not meet opening. Corrected before the filing went out.

100,000records migrated

Moved production records across two facilities, ran systems in parallel, and completed cutover without stopping production.

Background

Where I have the most experience

My deepest hands-on experience is in beverage production and distribution: wineries, breweries, importers, inventory, production systems, federal reporting, and related operations. The underlying work, which is process, controls, data integrity, reporting, documentation, and systems, translates across industries.

Getting started

How an engagement starts

  1. TalkAbout an hour, no charge. You walk me through how work, orders, product, and information actually move through the operation.
  2. DiagnoseWithin three business days, I send a written assessment of what I saw, what I would change, the order I would do it in, and an estimate for the work.
  3. DecideIf there is nothing worth paying me to fix, I will tell you.

Engagements

Work is scoped around the needs and complexity of the operation. I provide a clear assessment and estimate before substantial work begins. Projects may include hands-on operational support, systems work, analysis, or a combination of the three.
